Time Travel and Georgetown

I never intended to get out caching today - I have two intense weeks of meetings starting tomorrow, which will demand 200% of my abilities. I spent the majority of the day preparing for tomorrow's epic stand in Dallas, but I fell in to a diversionary email rapport with one of the neatest people I know: world famous cacher CCCooperAgency.

We were chit chatting when she asked me what I know about Time Travel (GCMPDR), and I passed along a rather vague hint that had come my way. I soon had to leave the computer for a lengthy phone call with the FAA, after which I decided to take a shower - I draw no inference there, except to say that cleanliness is a virtue.

Coming out of the shower, I pulled on some clean clothes and readied for some local errands when WHAT NOW! I had a new email from CCCA with a set of possible coordinates and a short description of the method, courtesy of her husband - who I hope to meet quite soon. Ernyyl jryy qbar, Xriva! After a couple of minutes with the maps, I saw that the plot was do-able and decided to saddle up for a look.

The area seemed to fit a previous log entry, so I scouted out possible entry solutions and found one - the main gate! It was wide open, as pictured below, though it was rather hard to be discreet entering.

A few minutes later I was standing in a small clearing waiting for the 'Magellan Countdown' to stop, when I heard a sound and looked up - there was a young Red Fox who had stepped into the clearing not 10 feet away! We both looked at each other thinking "WTF!", but he blinked first and took off in three graceful bounds. How unusual to surprise a fox in this way! I wished him well in parting, catching a whiff of his odor as I started to move toward my GPS arrow.

The GPS gave me fits and starts - I thoroughly searched every possible spot for 300 square feet and then took a break. While luxuriating in the cry of a Red Tailed Hawk overhead, the GPS suddenly pointed nearly 100 feet distant and seemed to stay there. Once I strolled over to this new spot, the find was almost immediate!

I was quite pleased with the victory and decided to try a local cache that I had been 'saving' for a special occasion: Hanging Around Georgetown (GCJD5H). I have suspected where the hide was for some months and stopped by on my way home - sure enough, there it was! It's an excellent hiding method and really capped off the afternoon nicely...

Now, if only I could get caught up on my work!!
